About Me
Bolanle Lawal: The gifted
mind behind Love of Power
Bolanle Lawal is a Nigerian-born writer. She moved from Nigeria to London, and later to the United States, where she raised her three children and worked as a nurse for 20 years.
Afterwards, Bolanle decided to pursue a lifelong dream of writing. Her curiosity about how ambition, leadership, and morality intersect in Nigerian society inspired her to write Love of Power.
She was interested in how power is sometimes thrust upon people, and how it changes them. She also wanted to explore how love and power collide, and the difficult choices people make in families, workplaces, and relationships.
Her biggest challenge was creating characters who felt human, flawed, relatable, and real, while still telling a dramatic story.
"Stories have the power to bridge
hearts and inspire change."
