About Me
Meet Bolanle Lawal,
The Author of Love of Power
My name is Bolanle Lawal. I’m 58 years old and originally from Nigeria. I moved from Nigeria to London, and after a few years there, I moved to the United States, where I had my three children and worked as a nurse for 20 years.
After some time, I finally decided to pursue my lifelong dream of writing. Love of Power grew out of my curiosity about how ambition, leadership, and morality intersect in Nigerian society. I wanted to explore how power is not always sought but sometimes forced upon people and how that changes them.
I also drew inspiration from watching how power works in everyday life, not just in politics but in families, workplaces, and relationships. I have always been fascinated by how love and power collide, pushing people to make difficult choices about loyalty, ambition, and truth.
The biggest challenge was balancing realism with storytelling. I wanted my characters to feel human, flawed, relatable, and real, while still carrying the weight of the story I wanted to tell.
To my readers,
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope Love of Power takes you into the heart of Ifepade, lets you feel the struggles and triumphs of its people, and reminds you of the choices we all face between love, duty, and the power we hold.

hearts and inspire change."
